In April 2006,
my wife Mary & I decided to go on an
educational / nugget hunting trip to Rye
Patch, Nevada, hosted by Gerry McMullen of
Gerry's Metal Detectors out of Boise, Idaho.
Three years ago I purchased a Minelab GP
Extreme, but lacked the expertise to be
successful in finding anything other than
rusty nails.
I heard about
Gerry's trips and decided to purchase a new
Fisher Gold Bug 2 from him that included
three days field training at Rye Patch.
I feel this
training trip with Gerry was one of the best
investments I've made, I now know how to
set-up and operate both machines and find
gold. I think everyone ended-up going home
with a nugget .
Our
first small nugget was found right off the
patio of our camper, on the first day while
Gerry was working with me and our second was
found the day after the training ended
& Gerry left for home.
Needless to
say we had a great time and thoroughly
enjoyed the company & beautiful scenery.
I've enclosed pictures of the camp, scenery,
our custom-built prospecting rig, my latest
invention the OFC { old fart cart } and our
small but prized nuggets.
We're looking
forward to another trip with Gerry,
