I
can’t say that we had to waste a lot of our valuable
time out in the goldfields, scratching our heads without
a clue. We got lucky because the person we bought our
detectors from is a dealer that offers hands on field
training. This person’s name is Gerry McMullen with
“Gerry’s Detectors” in Boise Idaho.
You
do not need to live in Boise to purchase a detector or
receive training from him. He emailed us a map and met
us down in the goldfields of Nevada. Gerry has other
states he takes people to train for gold nuggets as
well.
During the passed 5 years we have met a lot of people
that have spent thousands of dollars on all the
prospecting goodies that you would think would make them
successful. And most of these people have spent hours,
days, and months with no or very little success.
Frankly they have missed out on (my opinion) the MOST
important ingredient to electronical prospecting.
Training from an expert. And that is exactly what Gerry
is. Imagine trying to tune an electric guitar, without
having ever played one before. He will show you his
personal setting for whatever type of machine that you
decide to purchase from him. And gain optimum depth and
sensitivity for finding small deep nuggets. He has
decades of experience in detecting, and it shows. He
will plug his headphones into your machine with an
adapter, so you can both hear the tones that should be
further investigated, or discarded.
Not
only will you learn how to run your machine, but also he
gets you out into real Gold Country, and shows you what
types of areas to look for. Typically he takes several
guys down on training outings, which is a good thing.
When someone gets a target, everyone gets to listen to
it. And after a few targets you start understanding what
you are listening for.
Gerry is one of the most personable people I know. He
treated us like we were long time friends and not just
customers. He is always eager to answer any questions
you have, and will outfit you with the best machine for
your budget. Believe me when I say that Gerry’s training
will be more valuable to you than the machine you are
operating.
I
meet a lot of people out in the goldfields that are
stunned by my success. I tell them that I have an edge
on most people, due to the training I have receive by an
expert.
Thanks Gerry…
Happy hunting everyone-
