Tennessee Treasure Jan. 2007

On my last trip to TN, I was fortunate enough to get to hunt with a few friends.  One of them is Jake and he is my youngest Minelab Explorer detector customer.  Jake realized that spending the extra money up front would allow him to recover Deeper and Older finds.  Living in TN and knowing the potential for Civil War Artifacts and Old Coins exists, Jake did not want to sell himself short.  He stepped up to the plate and purchased an Explorer and has not looked back or regretted it ever since. This 150+ year old US Coin is a wonderful piece of history in almost an Extra Fine condition.  The mintage is quite low at 1.1 mil and any Half Dime will certainly win most Detector Club’s “Best Coin Category” contest.

How to Become a Successful Nugget Hunter!!

Jake standing in the lot at a site we hunted while on the phone with his new wife after he just dug up his Civil War find.  This area is known for Civil War artifacts and so that is what we expect to find.

His shitty grin as he shows off his Great Find.

A little closer for some faint detail of the 1800’s Old Coin. It looks to be in pretty Good Condition so far.

Shows that this Seated coin is a “Half Dime” and has the New Orleans mint mark, or the “O” stamp.

Some awesome detail of the 1856-O Half Dime with all 13 Stars and LIBERTY completely visible.
