My Ganes Trip, Some Photos |
|
As many of you are aware, I took a group of eager nugget
hunters to Ganes Creek, AK in June. Here are a few photos of
some gold that was recovered. These photos are of the
gravels that came from some kind of trommel system and were
then run in a smaller system to remove the mud and dirt.
This was not part of our detecting trip, but we were very
fortunate to be there for the right timing to view the
clean-up.

BELOW This
gravel is directly off the sluice. Notice the small nuggets
and flake gold. They really don't even worry about the gold
dust much.

This pan of
gold flake was after the wheel

Rice and Pea
size gravel with same size nuggets

BELOW..These are the pickers that they see as the system
is running.
I have never seen so much gold come off of one clean up in
my life.
The 64.5 ounces of gold was on a 2 man crew for 6 days.
At $400 an ounce that equals $26,000. Now you have to
realize that they have top end equipment and workers that
need paid for too.
I am so glad that we were there to see one of the clean
ups and I'll try my best to make sure that we can see one
next year as well when I take another group to Ganes Creek,
Alaska.
