Have you ever dreamed of digging
up Ancient Coins/Artifacts on
one of those Once in a Lifetime,
Dream Come True, week long
detecting trips to England? You
know the one I am talking
about…you read about it in the
Treasure Magazines, see the
photos of Roman Coins, Hammered
Silver, Bronze Artifacts and
your mind floats away and
wanders. Sometimes you read it
with such intensity/passion, you
actually feel as if you are over
there walking the fields and
having a "Time of your Life" with
a good buddy. A few of you may
even take that desire to bed and
dream about it.
Beep…beep… You flip over the
soft fresh rolled dirt and look
down in amazement…Your best
hunting buddy is watching from a
few yards away. He curiously
ask…Joe…what is it??? You reply
back…Not sure, but it looks to
be old.. As your heart pounds
in your chest…you gently run the
rich dark soil away. You see a
figure of a person’s head on one
side. That smug grin comes
across your face as you flip the
coin over…Your not certain but
think your eyes see a dog on the
back side…You holler back at
your partner… Not sure but I
think it is a Roman Coin???… Your
partner drops their detector and
excitedly scurries over to see…OMG…Your
partner remembers seeing that
same coin in a Treasure Magazine
in an article about detecting
England.. He says that is a
wolf on the back and kids are
suckling the teats.. Neither of
you remember the name for now
but will certainly have the
Expert check it out and give a
proper ID later that evening.
Later that night the small
group of 6 Hunters are sharing
and telling stories of the days
discoveries. One of the
others in the group identifies your exact coin in
his book. Come to find out it
is Romulus & Remus w/ Wolf on
reverse. Age 1st C.
330-335 AD. Your 1st
Roman coin and you still have 5
days left.
Ring…ring…ring….the alarm goes
off...Oh heck…I must have been
dreaming…I need to get to work.
That day at the office you
still wonder about the dream
and try to figure out if
you’ll ever get the chance
to do just that… Go

figure out where to start?
The cost must be thousands
of dollars? You don’t know
what the rules are about
metal detectors on planes…
You don’t even know what
kind of land you are allowed
to hunt. I mean..the Queen
owns much of the land and
you are certain she is not
going to let some Yankee dig
on her land and take away
England’s history??? What
about an Export License… Do
you need one, and if so..
where and how do you go
about getting one? What are
you allowed to remove from
England anyway? Some folks
say they can bring stuff
back ..others say you have
to turn it all in..One guy
says to do turn it in, but
you get 99.9% of it back.
You even hear of a story of
some guy who found something
really nice and England
purchased the item.. He got
to go for free.
Other questions you need info
on. Where do you get to hunt?
How do you get permission to
hunt certain places? What if
you find a gold coin? Heck… you
don’t even know your way around
England. You don’t even know if
you can drive a car on the
backwards roads? So many
questions and no for sure
answers. Well you might as well
not even worry because the
hassle and headache would be…
just to much. Why bother..
you’ll never get over there….
Just to dang many obstacles and
rules you don’t know anything
about.

dates of the trip and you will
know them up front. I work with
a local person in England who
contracts out the exact fields
we get to hunt. This same guy
takes care of your Export
License and provides you with
the current and up to date
rules/regulations on metal
detecting and your finds you’ll
be making.
Your transportation is already
taken care of and we’ll be
riding around in a small 8
person mini van. Yes, we go in
small 5 to 7 people groups.
All breakfast, lunch and most
dinner meals are provided. We
will go to a local pub a couple
times a week for some original
English Meals and a couple pints
if you wish. Those 2 nights
will cost you out of your
pocket.
Lodging is taken care of as I
have rented a beautiful totally
modernized 3 bedroom fully
equipped house. Comes with
Washer/Dryer, Hot Tub, Sweet
Room, 2 Bathrooms, Wood Stove,
Entertainment system, fully
stocked kitchen with all
appliances.
Again, all the sites are already
taken care of and you get to
choose which fields you want to
hunt.
All transportation, most food,
lodging, sites, export license
and a 30+ year professional
detectorist there to help make
sure you are doing the right
things to make your chances of
success that much more greater.
I try and turn that dream into
reality and to do it at a price
that many people can afford.
My cost for a week of detecting
on some of the oldest Private
sites in England (Colchester) is
$1900 plus your airfare to
London. I’ll even provide a
loaner detector if you don’t
have one.
